Christmas Festivities

Christmas is a time which many people look forward to around the world, not only to the religious side, and the giving and receiving of presents, but also the Christmas parties. This time of the year is a great excuse to indulge a little - or indeed a lot!

The problem is that many people look forward to it so much that they show little restraint when it comes to making merry. This can mean for some that Christmas has a detrimental effect on their health, their liver and their waistline.

We just loved office parties and shared christmas parties . Almost without exception and for many people, there is unfortunately the danger that they take full advantage of the free alcohol, often ending up in a sorry state at the end of the night.

Whilst a little over-indulgence once in a while does not hurt, the constant partying associated with Christmas means that our body is not used to the levels of food and drink being pumped into it. And speaking of the food - we all slim in the months before Christmas to squeeze into our tuxedo or little black dress and it is widely acknowledged that we all put on a few pounds over Christmas.

This is fine, but we use Christmas as carte blanche to stuff just about anything and of any quantity into our mouths. Chocolates, cocktails, nuts, hefty Christmas dinners, all is fair game at Christmas time. We should perhaps adopt the habit of slimming before Christmas with the intent of erring on the side of caution, not over-indulging so much that we regret it after the festive season is over.
