So, the money is fast running out where the National Health Service is concerned. The coalition government have stated that they do not intend to make any cuts in this field, but if you have even half a brain, languishing somewhere between your ears, it does not take Albert Einstein to work out that they have actually done this in a round-a-bout way after all.
How, I hear you ask? By changing the way fundamental aspects of the health service is run and this primarily emphasises on the top managerial positions.
Managers of local health authorities are now very worried indeed. They are having to scrap the idea of a brand new Porsche for their next vehicle purchase and the poor mites are having to turn to the degrading prospect of a used Audi instead.
When you discuss this issue in these terms, to some, the coalition's suggestions may actually be a good idea. There is no denying the fact that beforehand there were far too many people at the top, who were creaming off such vast salaries and percentages of the local authority budget. Once it came to paying the nurses and lower members of staff, whom are probably the most important tranche of the health service, there was very little left.
It would appear to be clear that the government is trying to create a health service that has fewer chiefs and more Indians. Let us just hope that they succeed with a workable plan in the future, as this is the area of NHS funding where the largest savings need to be made.
